President's Comments:
What A Great Caravan We Had!!! Not only was it a blast, but we raised a bunch of money as well. A lot of the credit has to go to all the club members who were ready and willing to lend a hand whenever necessary. On the top of that list has to be Jeff and Cindy who donated the use of their Dothan Conference Center for the Thursday night party and saved the club several hundred dollars, and a lot of work. Also a big thanks to all those who helped out Thursday morning getting Solomon’s showroom set up, and Thursday afternoon when we made the move to the DCC. The old saying ‘many hands makes light work’ is certainly true, as that’s what made a potentially difficult day into an enjoyable day. The actual Caravan went very well also, with the use of highway 20 and 79 getting rave reviews from our participants. Jim and Charley did a great job leading the roughly 80 Corvettes, taking advantage of a ‘spirited passing’ opportunity on highway 20 when confronted with slower traffic. Saturday’s activities went smoothly with almost 40 cars showing up for the Corvette Show and seminars conducted by Steve and Kirk. The Saturday night auction was the best with Kelly and Steve keeping the action moving as well as entertaining the crowd. As our 30th Beach Caravan event gets wrapped up we can all be proud of our club. We provided an enjoyable event for our participants, and raised several thousand dollars for charity. Also in April, in fact the day after we came back from the Caravan was the annual Azalea/Dogwood Trail parade. Despite returning from a major 3 day event, we managed to put up 8 Corvettes for this parade!! How about that!! Then on the 24th, the Emerald Coast Corvette club had their major event, the Corvette Beach Odyssey. This was held at Pier Park and although the weather was windy and rainy, we had a great time along with 3 other Circle City cars. On the 29th thru the 1st , the NCM is holding their annual C5/C6 Bash. We will have at least 2 cars attending this fun event at Bowling Green. Next month we have the Cruisin Corvette club’s show in Tallahassee to look forward to. This will be on the 15th, with a welcome party on the 14th. I hope you will plan to attend. Bruce |

Tech Tips: So, do you really void your new car warranty by doing modifications the engine? Well, the short answer is no. You could be denied warranty work ON the engine if it has been modified, but how often does a Vette go in for warranty work on the engine - rarely. Usually the problem is an electrical issue, or maybe a rattle. In most of these situations the Tech won't even look under the hood! I have also heard people say if you use the wrong oil you will void the warranty. Ok, think about that one for a minute. Do dealers have a lab to analyze the oil - No. Would they take time to send it to a lab - usually not, but if you brought the car in with a broke engine and they suspected improper lubrication - maybe. Remember, new car dealers are always trying to keep their customer base and they do that by keeping their customers happy. Not ticking them off by denying warranty coverage. Bruce |
