President's Comments:

Along with the warmer weather comes a slow down in car related events cause hey, who wants to sit in a parking lot for a car show when its 95 degrees and sunny!! So in May, we had what will likely be the last shows we will attend until the cooler weather arrives in late fall. But we did have a nice turnout for the Cruisin Corvettes show in Tallahassee with 9 cars, and we had 3 cars attend the Classic Glass Corvette show in Atlanta. Check out the photos (below) of both these shows.

In June John Hickman has taken the time to organize a ‘Vintage Beach Caravan’ for all club members. John is trying to plan the event as it was done back in the ’80’s. We have settled on June 19th for the event, and it should be lots of fun.

Looking ahead to July, several from the club are signed up for the Vettes for Vets at Talladega event on July 3rd. We did this last year and I still can’t get over how steep the banking is on the Talladega track – it was a blast. Also in July as well as August look forward to some pool parties and maybe a Mystery Cruise or two.

And finally, Drive that Vette!! The Corvette was designed to be driven, not to sit in the garage. But hey, they do look great in any garage!!

Bruce

Tech Tips:

Somewhere, somewhen among the members I heard mention of a vehicle coating called Rejex. I wrote down the name, thinking it worth googling, considering my aversion to w*o*r*k. Find it on the internet at www.corrosionx.com. The Corrosion Technologies Company also makes CorrosionX, a spray-in compound to treat and prevent corrosion in airplane structures. The website offers RejeX as a coating for the outside of aircraft. Buy it online at that website.
Follow the on-line directions. Wash the car with Dawn, the dishwashing detergent. Anything that will clean up barbeque will clean your car; including complete removal of the wax. Then claybar the car according to the directions; use car wash and water as a lubricant; save the spray and shine that came with the claybar for other uses. Cut the claybar into quarters or smaller, make it flat enough to cover three fingertips. If you drop it, throw it away. Fold it once, that way you get three sides to use.
Apply RejeX with a cotton rag to the cool surface. Let it dry; wipe it off. No buffing. Let it rest in the shade overnight for the polymer to set up. Your car's finish will now feel wet to the touch. Most Bugs come off with wipe of a wet rag. Use eye protection to look at a treated white 'Vette parked in the sun. It's s'posed to last 6 months or so. That's not as long as the product at the end of the alphabet, but it looks like a lot less work for a remarkable finish on a 1999 car with 137,000 miles.

Large file, may load slowly. Keep tongue firmly in cheek.

obtw, the club website, current version and archives, occupies 5730 files in 214 folders on my computer.
