President's Comments:

During January, we made a cruise to the Seacrest Wolf Preserve near Chipley FL. They were selected to receive a donation from our club, so prior to visiting the wolves we presented a check – they were very appreciative!! This completed all the donations to local charities for 2009, which totaled $3000!!!

The wolf visit was terrific. They are such beautiful creatures, and are so important in the balance of the ecology of many parts of the Pacific Northwest and Canada. Thanks much to Jim and Charley for setting up this Cruise.

What’s coming up – well in February, Bill and Jackie are setting up a ‘Sweetheart Cruise’ for us on Feb 13th. I hope the weather is good for us. Then on March 27th, the Mid Alabama Corvette club has organized an ‘all Alabama’ Corvette event that I hope many will attend. It will be at the Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham, which has a 2.5 mile road course. They have coordinated with the Porsche and BMW Owners Club that has rented the track for the day to allow the Corvettes to get on the track for some ‘parade laps’. But really, the event is all about socializing with other Alabama Corvette clubs and people, so it should be a event worth trying to attend.

Beach Caravan 2010, our 30th, is coming together nicely. The motel arrangements are done, they flyers and registration forms are completed, and our advertising campaign has started. Lets hope that the improving economy will help to increase the number of participants this year. Maybe by April lots of folks will be ready for a weekend at the beach, and they’ll do it with us.

Bruce
