President's Comments:

Winter in the Wiregrass is a difficult time of year to do “outside” activities with the frequent rainfall and colder temperatures. It kept us from our main event for February, attending the Sweetheart Party in Tallahassee with the Cruisin’ Corvette club. The drag racing event was a success but for only a few club members as attendance was light.

In March, we are starting to get into the “car show” season with the nicer spring time weather right around the corner. On March 7th we are planning to visit the Seacrest Wolf preserve near Vernon FL, followed by lunch. Then on the 21st, Russ Lewis and the Solomon service staff has put together a Corvette Service Seminar at Solomon Chevy in Dothan. Then on the 28th, the Weevil City Cruisers are having their annual car show in Enterprise. So, we’ve got lots of activities to chose from and I hope most of you will take advantage of these great events.

On the national scene, many of us nervously watch the nightly news to see if Corvette’s parent company, General Motors, is going to make it or not. And if not, what will happen to the future of the Corvette. I believe the Corvette is safe, even if GM does go bankrupt. I feel if bankruptcy is undertaken, the company will emerge within weeks and be stronger than before. Then again, I’m a certified optimist! Time will tell.

Bruce

Tech Tips:

I feel one of the best tech tips to give is to put you in contact with the people that know. Here are a few websites that can help you out a great deal in caring for your Corvette.

First, we should use our primary sponsor for expertise when maintaining our Corvettes. That’s what they do…

http://www.solomoncadillac.com/HomePage

Corvette Campaigns and Service Bulletins http://www.corvetteactioncenter.com/bulletin.html

Chevrolet Corvette Recalls http://www.automotive.com/used-cars/recalls/11/chevrolet/corvette/index.html

Corvette Recall and Repairs Information http://www.alldata.com/recall/make/Chevrolet/Corvette.html

They all appear to be alike, however if you will take the time to look them over, you will find one that you understand best and are comfortable using. If you have a favorite reference, please let us know. We will be happy to post their website link to help others.

Car of the Month:
We had a 1994 Corvette, automatic transmission and I wanted to try and find a stick shift 1995 ZR-1.

In 2002 my wife and I went to the Corvette museum and took the assembly plant tour while we were there. As we toured the assembly line, I spotted a 2003 yellow Z06 on the line. Right then, I told my wife, there is the car I want. I couldn’t get it out of my mind and it started me looking for one like it.

Two months after we returned from our trip to the Corvette plant, I told my wife I would like to drive over to the Atlanta area and look around. I met her where she worked and we drove her Miata over to Atlanta. We went to Maxie Price Chevrolet and there was a 2001 Yellow Z06 on their lot. Three hours later we left the Miata there and drove the Z06 home. We have really enjoyed it ever since. It is a 405 hp, (385hp) at the back tires, 401 ft. lbs. of torque. My wife ordered the stripes for me and I installed them myself, they are part of what makes it different. I would love to find a 1970-1972 Corvette some day, however, I will never part with my Yellow Z06.
