Chevy Announces the 2010 Corvette Grand Sport!

It's one of the most illustrious racing heritage Corvettes and it is returning to the lineup. Chevrolet is announcing the new, 2010 Corvette Grand Sport today as part of the C5/C6 Corvette Birthday Bash!

The new Grand Sport model combines the Corvette's LS3-based powertrain with unique, wide-body styling and a racetrack-bred suspension for a distinctive, starting grid-ready performer. It is offered in both coupe and convertible body styles, with either a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission. The LS3 6.2L engine is rated at 430 horsepower (321 kW)* and 424 lb.-ft. of torque (575 Nm)* with the standard exhaust system. An optional two-mode exhaust system elevates the power ratings to 436 horses (325 kW) and 428 lb.-ft. (580 Nm).

We are Quoting and Protecting

Our new NCM Insurance Agency opened to the world last week and the response has been fantastic! We have completed hundreds of quotes for interested collector car owners and have written many new policies at significant savings for our customers. You can also feel good about the fact that a portion of each premium benefits the Museum!

During the Bash event, you can meet with our NCM Insurance Agent, Adam Boca along with team members from American Modern Insurance Group who will be available to meet with you one on one to give you the best quote possible for protecting your Corvette or any other collectible car. We will also be hosting a seminar on Friday from 3:45-4:45 pm on protecting your passion. Thanks for giving us the opportunity to protect your Corvette and for the support of this new program created to offer another benefit to the Corvette community. Find out more about this program and receive a

The Museum will be the official race site of the 15th Annual “Mini Corvette Challenge” organized by Junior Achievement – an organization that educates and inspires young people to value free enterprise and understand business and economics. The race challenge will be held outside on the Museum grounds May 9th and consists of twenty four teams with custom-tooled and, detailed miniature Corvette go-carts competing for the checkered flag and raising funds for Junior Achievement.

NCM Delivery Program Manager Gary Cockriel, greeted the group in attendance at the official press conference held on Corvette Boulevard yesterday and expressed that the Museum was the perfect location for this community activity. “We are thrilled to be the host site for the event and feel privileged to support the community in this way.” More information on the Mini Corvette Challenge can be found
online.

Caravan and 15th Anniversary Registration Details

We have had many inquiries about the registration process for the National Corvette Caravan versus 15th Anniversary Celebration. These registrations are separate and you will need to register for both parts if you plan to participate in both. The Caravan registration entitles you to the perks associated with activities planned along your caravan’s route, but does not cover you for activities at the Museum.

The 15th Anniversary event is a totally separate process and entitles you to be a part of the activities planned upon your arrival as part of the caravan. If you have pre-registered for the Caravan, you will want to return to our website and reserve your spot on the activities planned at the Museum. If you are only participating in the 15th Anniversary festivities and are not planning to be a part of the Caravan, register online for the event festivities. Registration for both the National Corvette Caravan and 15th Anniversary Celebration is available via our website.

We are in searching for thousands of digital pictures to help complete our new enthusiast area in the Museum entitled “Living the Dream”. Here is your chance to have your picture, your Corvette / Corvettes, your family, your club or all of the above on display here at the National Corvette Museum.

Listed below are several areas where we need your help.

  • Photo mosaic mural for our “People make the car” display. These images will be used for a wall that measures 15 feet long and 8 feet tall. When looking at the wall from a distance you will see a 1953 Corvette, but when you get closer, you will see that the mural is actually made up of thousands of individual pictures. We need about 10,000 pictures for this display alone, so tell your Corvette friends and club members that we need lots of pictures. Any resolution image will work for this area – so send in all you have!
  • “Corvette Lifestyle” – For this area we need digital pictures of things you do with your Corvette like road tours, car shows, rallies, club events, caravans, the wave, or photos of you modeling great Corvette apparel that coordinates with your Corvette. We are looking for things you do that involve you and your Corvette - washing/detailing, modifying, customizing, improving performance, etc. (These images should be at least 300 dpi or the highest resolution possible.)
  • “Corvette Racing” – Send us your digital pictures of non-professional activities such as autocross, drag racing, track racing fun runs, etc.  We also need video footage in VHS or DVD format. (Images need to be 300 dpi or the highest resolution possible.)
  •  “Corvette Living” – We need video testimonials showing and narrating the exciting and colorful things you have done to your Corvette, your garage, your house, and crazy apparel designs that show “your” Corvette Style.

When submitting photos you must complete a documentation sheet and follow procedures to submit images. To read the complete details on submitting photos please visit. Only images that meet the requirements will be considered, so please carefully review the instructions available online. The deadline to submit images is May 30 – so hurry to get in on this exciting chance to showcase your Corvette style
